L’Hiver des Feltram, M-F, 2009
A chronicle of the low season in a seaside resort in the Bay of Arcachon. The Feltram brothers, Bertrand and Philippe, and Sylvie, Bertrand’s wife, are left to themselves in the familly mansion in front of the beach. The sea attacks everything that is well-defined: concrete walls along the beach are like certitudes in human minds. The two brothers gradually lose their footing while Sylvie reads detective novels: they are her buoy. Inspired by a short-story from Sheridan Le Fanu, this novel describes the transformation of the characters under the influence of the sea. It is also an attempt to analyse the role of the element water in the constitution of an imaginary.
